Selco Sky Sports TV Advertisement

A series of short sponsorship idents produced for Selco Builders Warehouse, created to play at the start and end of every advert break during Sunday Supplement on Sky Sports 1.

The Client

Selco Builders Warehouse is a nationwide builders merchant, best known for its radio advert and its long-running tagline, "Selco's, it's where the trade goes".

With that radio presence well established, Selco was looking for a television production company to help extend the brand on screen.

The Brief

We were commissioned by Selco Builders Warehouse to create a series of TV adverts to play at the start and end of every advert break during Sunday Supplement on Sky Sports 1.

Selco wanted the spots to be fun and creative rather than a conventional, straight-laced commercial.

The Approach

We handled the production from inception through to final delivery at the TV studio, and spent time with the marketing team at Selco to get to know the brand.

The script was shaped by the core demographic and by the time and location of the broadcast. Keeping everything within the time frame and budget took meticulous planning.

As a West Midlands production company, we were well placed for choice when it came to actors and suppliers for the shoot.

The Outcome

Altogether we created ten individual TV advertisements and one combined advert, using just five seconds of screen time per spot to both sell products and services and tell a story.

The idents were made for Sky Sports 1 and went on to air before and after the Sports Report during ITV News. Selco was pleased enough with the films to make them part of its social media advertising too.

Green Gorilla Films were resourceful and creative, nothing was ever a problem. What they produced was of an exceptional quality, despite various challenges and restrictions. With their help we've been able to gain significant brand awareness with a selection of high quality and engaging sponsorship idents. Would absolutely work with again in the future.
